Women are complicated. Emotions are partly to blame but mostly it’s because we have so many roles to play and lives to live. Keeping us anchored and sane are those who love us for who we are – our friends. There are different types of friends and though what types we have may vary, life is just so much better when we have all these five.
If you could only have five, have these five ...
The Childhood Friend
You can’t act all high and mighty around her because she knew you from the time you wet your bed in second grade. It is a great idea to keep in touch with a childhood friend, because aside from your family, she is your best connection to your roots. She understands where you came from and thus can be a great guide to discovering where you should be. Remember, there is much to learn from our histories.
The Positive Pal
“YES!” is great to hear. And when you know that’s all you need, an optimist is a great friend to have on speed-dial. With her around, you feel ready to face the day and confident to reach for your goals. You will never want to let her down. Women like her are positive forces that attract happiness and success. In this cynical world, friends like her are to be cherished.
The Co-worker Chum
Boss trouble. Client problems. Manic Mondays. At the end of our 8-to-5 (if you’re lucky!), it’s a relief to have someone to grab a beer with - especially someone who can sympathize immediately to the tough workweek. After a few beers and rants both of you will feel energized to face work the next day. After all, how awful could the office be if you have a friend there?
The Partner in Crime
You’ve never been to a strip club and you want to this Friday? Your partner in crime is game. Jello-tequilla shots? Game! Kissing a Buckingham Palace Guard? Her only question is “With or without tongue?” This friend is indispensable because she adds spice to life. Being with her is an adventure you will never forget because there’s practically nothing she won’t try. The next time you see her give her a thank you hug for all the courage she has given you to just have fun.
The Bosom Buddy
You may not always see each other but you know if you needed her, she’d be there. Your friendship has weathered time and distance and even fights. She knows all there is to know about you. She can read your moods and she always knows what to say. She’s almost like a sister, and she’s definitely a soulmate. This type of friend is rare but worth looking for. And if you’ve got one, tell her how lucky you feel to have someone so special.
