With the New Year comes, of course, new styles and trends in the continually-revolving doors of fashion. Will graphic tees and metallic shoes still be hot this year? Will you still be able to wear those C3PO-inspired tights you have finally gotten your hands on? What cultural inspiration will hit it big this time? Be ahead of the fashion curve with these fashion predictions:
- Start the year with a Bang(le): Last year's arms were bedecked by piled up bangles of different
colors, styles, and embellishments. 2008 is about the wide cuff, in metallic, jeweled, or even wire.
- Booties: These darlings kicked major butt last year, as the boot-shoe hybrid became a favorite staple in winter wear. Seen on the ankles of Rihanna and even Rumer Willis, booties will gain major ground this year.
- Spartan Spirit: Last year's hit 300 was not only of action-packed fight scenes nor of über-hot Greek men; it has also spread its influence to fashion. And why not, when Spartan women embodied the rare combination of strength of will, and softness and vulnerability? Channel your inner Grecian with sexy drape-y dresses and tops. Complete the look with gladiator sandals Queen Gorgo would definitely be proud of.
- Punch with color: Bright popping colors are definitely in, especially this spring. Brighten up your wardrobe with pieces that would shame Crayola to tears. If you're not brave enough to be the shining beacon in a crowd of monochrome, or you want to tame it down a little, try on dustier colors like this BCBGMAXAZRIA dusty teal dress, or just brighten up a sad outfit with hot heels like these.
- Waist not, want not: Yes, high-waisted is back in. Now is the time to remember the 70s (or at least remember the That 70s Show, for those of us who missed out on that bangin' decade). Wear it with a modern twist in Eva Franco elegance, or edgy in Alexander Wang.
